ECR/POS to PC interfacing.

Abstract: One of the most significant advancements today in foodservice automation is the ability to interconnect a cash register system to a microcomputer. Not only can more information be obtained, but data rehandling is kept to a minimum. This is accomplished by the capability of supporting an interface to a personal computer in the electronic cash register/point-of-sale systems. The interface is composed of both hardware and software, enabling cash registers to expand their capabilities far beyond their present levels. The logistics of how these systems operate are discussed in the article with the reminder that not all systems are compatible.(jd-b)
